§ Mr. Maples[holding answer 16 July 1991]: The amounts collected as ultimus haeres from Scotland were £400,000 in 1988 and £300,000 in 1989. The amounts collected as bona vacantia from England, Wales and 188W Northern Ireland, excluding the Duchies of Cornwall and Lancaster, were £5,100,000 in 1988 and £5,100,000 in 1989. These figures are net of ex-gratia payments to kin, debts paid on estates, and administration and other costs. The accounts for 1990 will be laid before the House in the autumn.
