To ask the Secretary of State for Energy what is his latest estimate of the potential level of capital funding on the United Kingdom continental shelf over the next two years.

Mr. Moynihan

A recent report of company intentions for capital investment showed that expenditure could increase by a third to £4.7 billion in 1991 and £4.8 billion in 1992.
