Mr. Wray

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland further to his answer of 24 June,Official Report, column 365, if he will identify the national health service hospitals in Scotland where waste incinerators have difficulties in complying with current pollution control legislation.

Residents in Mental Illness Hospitals and Psychiatric Units as at 31.12.90 with an Admission Diagnosis of Senile Dementia (I.C.D. 290) by Health Board of Residence, Age and Sex.

Mr. Michael Forsyth

Two clinical waste incinerators are experiencing difficulties in complying with current pollution control legislation. These are located at the Western and Royal Infirmaries in Glasgow. Greater Glasgow health board is pursuing a vigorous course of action to deal with these difficulties.
