Mr. Rathbone

To ask the Secretary of State for Energy when he next intends to meet his opposite numbers in other European Community countries; and what will be discussed.

Mr. Wakeham

I expect to meet my opposite numbers at the next Energy Council, on 29 October, when we will discuss a number of energy-related subjects.

I also hope to have separate meetings later this year with the German Minister for Economic Affairs, the Dutch Minister for Economic Affairs and the Portuguese Minister for Industry and Energy. In each case, European energy matters will form the basis for discussion.
