Bank and Building Society Lending

To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer what the annualised percentage growth of bank and building society lending was, seasonally adjusted, over the six months to(a) May 1991 and (b) June 1991.

For the six months to the end of May 1991 the banks' and building societies' lending to the M4 private sector annualised growth rate was 7.1 per cent. (seasonally adjusted).

The June 1991 figure is not available yet. It will be given in line 23 of table A of the Bank of England's monetary statistics notice, due for publicaton on 29 July 1991.
