HC Deb 10 July 1991 vol 194 cc364-5W
Mr. Peter Bottomley

To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer pursuant to his answer to the hon. Member for Eltham of 2 July,Official Report, columns 87–88, what list the Advisory Committee on Advertising maintains of agencies considered suitable for nomination to work for government.

Mr. Maples

The Advisory Committee on Advertising has wide knowledge and experience of many advertising agencies but does not maintain a standing list of agencies considered suitable to compete for Government work.

Consideration of suitability for nomination is made to meet the circumstances of each separate competition.

Mr. Peter Bottomley

To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer what criteria are used by the Advisory Committee on Advertising to decide whether an agency may be nominated for Government business.

Mr. Maples

Advertising agencies are nominated to compete for Government business by the Advisory Committee on Advertising when the Committee considers that the agency's competence, experience and performance match the requirements of a particular competition.
