§ Mr. Barry JonesTo ask the Secretary of State for Wales what assessment he has made of the number of redundant British coal miners who have received training or retraining following redundancy; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. David HuntThe Government do not identify separately the number of redundant miners who have received training or retraining on Government training programmes. However, since it was set up in 1984 British Coal Enterprise has helped over 500 redundant miners to receive training and helped to create nearly 9,000 job opportunities in Wales.
