§ Mr. Austin MitchellTo ask the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry whether he has any plans to propose legislation under which partners from the auditing firms implicated in money laundering will be barred for life from practising.
§ Mr. RedwoodUnder part II of the Companies Act 1989 the recognised supervisory bodies must ensure that only fit and proper persons are eligible for appointment as company auditors. Paragraph 6(2)(c) of schedule 11 to the Act makes relevant provision in respect of partnerships.
