§ 14. Mr. David EvansTo ask the Secretary of State for Employment how many workers he estimates will be affected by the provisions contained in the Employment Act 1990 to outlaw the pre-entry closed shop.
§ Mr. HowardIn 1989 there were some 1.3 million people working in pre-entry closed shops. As a result of the Employment Act 1990, pre-entry closed shops can no longer be lawfully established or maintained. That can be only of benefit to all employees and to all those seeking work.
