§ Mr. BellottiTo ask the Secretary of State for Health if he will make it his policy to institute a full medical survey into the possible public health implications in respect of radiation levels as a result of the operation of the nuclear power station at Dungeness; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. DorrellIn its third report to the Government, copies of which are in the Library, the Committee on Medical Aspects of Radiation in the Environment—COMARE—stated that investigations of the incidence of childhood cancer in the vicinity of nuclear installations would be difficult to interpret until the results of studies of the distribution of childhood cancer incidence on a nationwide basis become available. The committee will then be asked to participate in a review of the evidence relating to the incidence of childhood cancer around nuclear installations. If the hon. Member has any information that he feels may be relevant, perhaps he would write to me.
