HC Deb 23 January 1991 vol 184 c260W
Mr. Corbyn

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence how many journalists are accredited to armed forces facilities in the Gulf; and what restrictions are placed on their broadcasting or relaying of stories.

Mr. Archie Hamilton

Some 45 journalists are accredited to various British service units in the Gulf. In filing reports they are required to abide by published ground rules designed to protect the security and safety of allied forces. Where necessary, their reports may also be subject to vetting by military authorities to which they are attached.
