HC Deb 23 January 1991 vol 184 c249W
Mr. Dewar

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Security what has been the level of expenditure by his Department on the independent living fund for each of the past five years; and how much of this was spent in Scotland in each year.

Mr. Scott

The Independent Living Fund was established in June 1988. Expenditure published by the Fund in their annual reports was £1.35 million in 1988–89 and £10.08 million in 1989–90. Provision for 1990–91 is £32 million. Information on the cost of awards in Scotland is not available. However, around 9 per cent. of the fund's beneficiaries live in Scotland.
