To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will list the relevant bodies which were consulted before the appointment to the board of the Scottish Natural Heritage Agency under section IIIb of the consultation paper "Scotland's Natural Heritage: The Way Ahead"; and if he will make a statement.

Appointments to the board of Scottish Natural Heritage will be made later in the year. My right hon. Friend will be willing to consider nominations from relevant bodies.

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland when he expects a decision to be taken over the location of the headquarters of the new Scottish Natural Heritage Agency; and if he will make a statement.

The location of the headquarters will be decided following receipt of advice from management consultants who are about to report on the locational, staffing and organisation options for SNH.

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will make a statement on the number of additional staff which will be required by the proposed Scottish Natural Heritage Agency; and whether any additional funding for this purpose will be met out of the existing conservation budget.

[holding answer 16 January 1991]: Staff numbers for Scottish Natural Heritage will be decided following receipt of advice from management consultants who are about to report on the locational, staffing and organisation options for SNH.

Decisions about the resources for Scottish Natural Heritage will be taken within the timetable and context of the annual public expenditure survey.
