To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment when the group to review the operation of the Minerals Act 1981 will be set up; and what the composition of the group will be.

As announced in "This Common Inheritance", my officials are currently reviewing the operation of the provisions of the Minerals Act 1981. A small informal working group of planners and industry representatives is assisting in this.

Any proposals for change arising out of the work of the group will be subject to full consultation in the usual way.
