To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer what steps have been taken by his Department to minimise the number of customs documents, cash deposits and guarantees for the temporary import of tourist and commercial vehicles.

The temporary import of tourist vehicles and driver-accompanied commercial vehicles does not usually require customs documents, cash deposits or guarantees. The United Kingdom is participating in the preparation of Community legislation to allow the temporary import of most other commercial vehicles without customs documents or security.
