HC Deb 27 February 1991 vol 186 c507W
Rev. William McCrea

To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland what plans the IDB and LEDU have to build advance factories and units within the constituency of Mid-Ulster during the next three years.

Mr. Needham

The Industrial Development Board's plans for advance factories are being reviewed. The needs of the Mid-Ulster constituency will be considered in decisions on future locations. The LEDU does not build advance factories or units, but under its local enterprise programme it aids the establishment of local enterprise agencies which provide workspace accommodation for small businesses. Plans for the next three years include a 33,000 sq ft agency in Cookstown, an expansion of Omagh Enterprise Company, the provision of some workspace units in Ardboe and Creggan and possibly Donemana. In addition, under its property developers scheme, the LEDU is negotiating the provision of 48,500 sq ft of industrial workspace with six private developers in the Mid-Ulster area.
