To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he will make a statement about clone breeding of various species.

Mr. Maclean

We are aware of the basic research which is being carried out at home and abroad and are closely monitoring developments on the cloning of animals.

The Department will ensure that the same high standards of welfare will apply to all farm animals, regardless of their origin.
