To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what steps he is taking to encourage the use of low-energy light bulbs in his Department's offices and other buildings.

As part of the Department's campaign to save energy by all practical means, more energy-efficient lighting has been installed in our regional office at Reading and is currently being installed in the headquarter offices in Whitehall and Whitehall place and in the central science laboratory at Slough. In other locations similar measures are under consideration and these will be carried forward wherever practicable.
