§ Mr. John PattenThe Green Paper, "Supervision and Punishment in the Community"—Cm 966—which was published in February 1990, set out options for improving the efficiency and effectiveness of the probation service in order to meet the demands of the Criminal Justice Bill. More than 160 responses have been received. The options are being carefully considered and we expect to announce our conclusions soon.
