§ Mr. BlunkettTo ask the Secretary of State for the Environment, pursuant to his reply of 29 January,Official Report, column 474, if he will (a) publish a table indicating the administrative costs of implementing the urban programme, for both local government arid national Government, for 1989–90 and (b) indicate what resources were made available for the urban programme in 1989–90.
§ Mr. Portillo[holding answer 4 February 1991]: Resources available for the urban programme in 1989–90 from central Government totalled £242 million. Local authorities contribute 25 per cent. of revenue expenditure which, together with the central Government funding of £242 million, produced a total provision of £260 million. The Department of the Environment's administrative costs were £2 million. I regret that the Government do not hold information on the administrative costs for local government.
