To ask the Secretary of State for Social Security by how much the earnings disregard in invalid care allowance has risen over the last two years.

The earnings limit for invalid care allowance was raised from £12 to £20 a week in April 1990. In his statement on 24 October 1990 about the uprating of social security benefits my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State announced our intention to increase the limit by a further 50 per cent. to £30 a week from April this year.
