To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland how many people have re-offended whilst out on bail under the terms of the Bail (Scotland) Act 1980.

In 1990, 2,742 persons were proceeded against where the main offence was under section 3(1)(b) of the Bail Etc. (Scotland) Act 1980, which includes re-offending while on bail.
