To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department how much time off in lieu hours are at present owed to prison officers serving at Wandsworth prison as of 1 December.

On 1 December 6,442 hours were owed to prison officers at Wandsworth.

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what was the number of prison officers serving at Wandsworth prison in 1990; what was the comparable figure in 1980; and if he will make a statement.

At the end of 1990, 481 prison officer staff were employed at Wandsworth prison compared with 331 at the end of 1980.
