§ Mr. Nicholas BennettThis is a matter for Clwyd county council as the local authority. Acting on the recommendations of an independent review of Cartrefle children's home, the local authority has asked North Wales police to investigate allegations of child abuse at Bryn Estyn. Additionally, it has set up a free telephone helpline for former residents. I understand that they will consider the need for an independent inquiry when the police have completed their investigation.
My officials have been in touch with the social services department and advised them of my concerns about this matter.
