To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment what plans he has for the privatisation of the British Waterways Board.

There are no such plans, but privatisation is always an option to be considered for public undertakings.

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment when the chairman and the chief executive of the British Waterways Board commissioned management consultants to consider ways in which the board could be privatised; and what were the total fees paid to the consultants for this assignment.
