§ Mr. AllenTo ask the Secretary of State for Social Security if he will list all directives from the European Community issued in the last 10 years which are(a)) now active in the field of British social security and (b) under consideration.
§ Mr. JackThe following directives issued in the last 10 years are currently active in the field of social security.
1. Council directive 79/7/EEC of 19 December 1978 on the progressive implementation of the principle of equal treatment for men and women in matters of social security; and2. Council directive 86/378/EEC of 24 July 1986 on the implementation of the principle of equal treatment for men and women in occupational social security schemes.The necessary legislation has already been enacted.
The DSS, although not the lead Department, is currently involved in negotiations concerning proposed directives on the protection of pregnant women; on atypical work; on the protection of young people at work; and on pension funds.
