HC Deb 04 December 1991 vol 200 c147W
Mr. Atkinson

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs how the medical and food stocks intended for the Gulf have since been distributed as humanitarian aid; what measures are taken to ensure that such aid reaches its intended recipients; and if he will make a statement.

Mrs. Chalker

We are supporting the UN, British and Iraqi relief agencies in providing humanitarian aid, including medical and food supplies, to vulnerable groups in Iraq. We have spent some £44 million since April this year. We maintain regular contact with all these agencies, which monitor distribution within Iraq.
