§ Mr. AmosTo ask the Secretary of State for Scotland how many miles of motorway are currently(a) open, (b) under construction and (c) planned in Scotland either (i) as completely new motorway or (ii) as existing motorway being widened; and if he will make a statement.
§ Lord James Douglas-Hamilton[holding answer 3 December 1991]: In Scotland, 153 miles of trunk road motorway are currently open to traffic; nine miles are presently under construction and 67 miles of new motorway are planned. There are no motorway widening proposals in our trunk road programme at present.
