§ Mr. Bill WalkerTo ask the Secretary of State for Scotland if he is yet in a position to make a statement about the future of Craigtoun hospital.
§ Mr. Michael ForsythThe Secretary of State has today approved Fife health board's proposal to close Craigtoun hospital, St. Andrews. The health board has upgraded St. Andrew's memorial hospital at a cost of £.0.1 million in order to provide patients from Craigtoun with a better quality of care, including a higher standard of therapeutic and other services. The closure will release revenue of around £½ million which will allow the board to make service improvements including developing community support to care for the elderly in north-east Fife.
