§ Mrs. Virginia BottomleyThere were, in whole-time equivalents, 3,600 community psychiatric nurses, 4,200 community midwives and 38,410 community nursing staff in post in England on 30 September 1990. The last figure includes both qualified and unqualified nursing staff.
Separate information relating to community occupa-tional therapists is not collected centrally. At 30 September 1990, there were a total of 8,190 occupational therapists employed within the NHS, including occupational therapist helpers, and 1,260 employed in social services departments.
