§ Mrs. Virginia BottomleyOn the question of the remuneration of NHS trust chairmen, I refer the hon. Member to the reply I gave the Member for Sheffield, 119W Brightside (Mr. Blunkett) on 25 January at column 356. All other non executive directors of NHS trusts are remunerated at a standard rate of £5,000 per annum. Remuneration is taxable arid subject to national insurance contributions, but is not pensionable.
The salaries and pension entitlements of NHS trust chief executives and other executive directors are matters for the individual trust boards.
