§ 16. Mr. DevlinTo ask the Secretary of State for Defence what representations he has received about the grading of air electronic operations; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. Kenneth CarlisleThe decision to reduce the pay banding of master and flight sergeant air electronic operator with effect from 1 October 1989 has generated about 35 representations.
Downbanding was implemented after three job evaluations over a period of six years had shown it to be justified. In accordance with normal practice, no one suffered a cut in pay; personnel affected kept their existing pay rates on a mark-time basis.
