HC Deb 29 April 1991 vol 190 c22W
38. Mr. Ian Bruce

To ask the hon. Member for Berwick-upon-Tweed, representing the House of Commons Commission, what plans the Commission has to undertake a fundamental review to improve the way Parliament operates and to ensure that value for money is obtained.

Mr. Beith

The Ibbs report on House of Commons services was published on 28 November and was given a generally positive welcome by the House in the debate on 17 January. Steps to implement the report are now in train. The whole thrust of the Ibbs report was in the direction of better accountability and value for money in the delivery of services for the House. A further review was not seen to be required.
