HC Deb 29 April 1991 vol 190 c55W
Mr. Dalyell

To ask the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry, pursuant to the reply of the Chief Secretary to the Treasury on 18 April, if he will make bulldozers and other relevant equipment available to the Government of Kuwait to assist in fighting the oil fires; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Sainsbury

[holding answer 23 April 1991]: It is for the firefighting contractors selected by the Kuwaitis to determine and make available the necessary equipment. As yet, British companies are not directly involved in firefighting, but the Government are actively supporting proposals from British groups to provide a wide range of services which are needed to deal with the oil fires.
