§ Mr. KennedyTo ask the Secretary of State for Health (1) if he will instigate an independent inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the case of Catherine Murphy, whose family were wrongly informed of her death;
(2) when he expects to be able to reply to Councillor Neil Cardwell regarding the case of Catherine Murphy, who is at present an in-patient of Rainhill hospital, Rainhill, Merseyside.
§ Mr. DorrellThe St. Helens and Knowsley health authority has apologised unreservedly to Miss Murphy's relatives and is conducting an urgent inquiry. I have asked it to keep me informed. I am writing to Councillor Cardwell today.
