§ Mr. JackA person working part-time must satisfy the contribution conditions for receipt of unemployment benefit and be available for work on the days for which he claims. He must also actively seek work and show that any restrictions he places on his availability do not prevent him from having reasonable prospects of employment. Benefit is not payable for any day on which he earns over £2, or for any week in which he has done his full normal week's work or earned at least £52.
A person refused unemployment benefit may appeal to the local social security appeal tribunal. He may also be entitled to family credit or income support.
