HC Deb 25 April 1991 vol 189 cc533-4W
24. Mr. Flynn

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what new proposals he has to reduce the levels of crime.

Mr. Peter Lloyd

We shall continue to develop and pursue vigorously our policies to combat crime and protect the public. These include additional people and money for the police and a growing programme of crime prevention measures. The provisions of the Criminal Justice Bill will enhance the courts' powers to deal effectively with offenders. Effective crime prevention is not just a responsibility of the Government, the police and the courts; it needs the support of the entire community.
