HC Deb 24 April 1991 vol 189 c478W
Miss Emma Nicholson

To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he will make it his policy to seek limitations by the European Commission on the number of calves being imported into the European Community from eastern Europe.

Mr. Curry

The Commission has already made it clear to the Agriculture Council that it intends to limit the import of calves in 1991 to 425,000 head, the average of the three years 1987–89. Negotiations to this end are in progress with third countries.
