Mr. John D. Taylor
To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland what was the quantity of milk produced in the year ending 31 March 1991; what was the relevant quota for milk production; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. Hanley
Wholesale milk production in Northern Ireland in the year ending 31 March 1991 is provisionally calculated to have been 1,285.950 million litres. This volume will be adjusted to take account of its butterfat content. The final wholesale production figure will not be known for some time. Wholesale quota for the Province is 1,285.628 million litres. This figure may be increased by the addition of any unused direct sales quota. Direct sales quota is 5.6 million litres. Direct sales production will not be known until final returns have been received from direct sellers.
