To ask the Secretary of State for Health what is the percentage rate of lung cancer in Liverpool among women and men; and what the Liverpool mortality rate is in comparison with the United Kingdom rates.

The latest figures available show that in 1985 the incidence among males was 0.18 per cent. and 0.07 per cent. among females. The mortality rate in 1989 was for males 13.8 per 10,000 of the population compared with 9.8 nationally and for females 7.8 per 10,000 of the population compared with 4.2 nationally.
