HC Deb 23 October 1990 vol 178 c175W
Mr. David Marshall

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland how many cases of Legionnaire's disease there have been in Glasgow royal infirmary since 1982; how many people have died as a result; and if he will make a statement on the current situation.

Mr. Michael Forsyth

Between January 1982 and September 1990 there have been 21 cases of Legionnaires' disease at Glasgow royal infirmary, resulting in eight deaths. In 1990, up until September, there have been two cases resulting in one death. I have called for a full report from Greater Glasgow health board on the cases contracted in 1990 and this is awaited.
