§ Mr. LangUnemployment percentage rates are only available for(a) all unemployed males and (b) all unemployed females in (i) Strathclyde region and (ii) Scotland.
Where rates are not available for the requested areas we have given the appropriate level of unemployment. The most reliable figures on unemployment among young people are available only on a quarterly basis, and hence the July 1990 figures are shown. Young people are defined as being between 18 and 24 years old.

§ Mr. LangThe table provides long-term unemployment figures, for both males and females, for Shettleston, Glasgow, Strathclyde and Scotland, for July 1990, the latest date for which the most accurate figures are available. The long-term unemployed are defined to be those persons who have been unemployed claimants for in excess of 52 weeks.
