To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Science what is his policy towards the provision of free transport to and from voluntary aided church schools by local education authorities.

Mr. Fallon

The Government's view on the provision of school transport for pupils attending denominational schools was given in a circular letter on school transport and choice of school that was sent to all local education authorities in December 1981. That advice remains current. A copy of the letter is in the Library of the House.
