To ask the Secretary of State for Health which hospital regions of the United Kingdom have the use of air ambulances; what is the basis of funding this service; and if he will institute a study into the possible provision of such a service on a nationwide basis.

This information is not collected centrally. A study is being carried out into the services in two areas and the results will be considered in due course. The services provided in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland are the responsibility of my right hon. and learned Friend the Secretary of State for Scotland and my right hon. Friends the Secretaries of State for Wales and for Northern Ireland.
