To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what items were discussed by the consumer panel at its last meeting.

Mr. Maclean

The consumer panel met on 17 October 1990 and discussed a wide range of issues including food safety research and development, food surveillance, risk assessment, the food hazard warning system and freedom of information. The papers and minutes of this meeting are publicly available and have been placed in the Library of the House.

The next meeting of the panel will take place on 16 January 1991.
