Mr. StrangTo ask the Secretary of State for Scotland when he expects to receive the full report from the Scottish Development Agency on the Scottish steel industry; and if he will ask the agency to prepare an interim report on the implications of the proposed closure of the hot strip mill at Ravenscraig by the British Steel Corporation.
§ Mr. LangThe emerging findings of the SDA study should be available by Christmas and my right hon. and learned Friend expects to receive the full report by the end of March. British Steel should be in a position to consider any opportunities identified before the date announced for final closure of the hot strip mill.
