HL Deb 29 November 1990 vol 523 c47WA
Lord Simon of Glaisdale

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What provision they are making to monitor the cost of legal services after the coming into force of the provisions of the Courts and Legal Services Act 1990.

The Lord Chancellor (Lord Mackay of Clashfern)

The provisions of the Courts and Legal Services Act 1990 are not aimed directly at achieving savings but rather at ensuring that the public has access to the best quality legal services for the particular needs of particular clients. The Government will of course continue to receive information about the cost of the provision of legal services under the Legal Aid Act.
