Mr. Macdonald

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will list all those sites which have been(a) designated and (b) proposed for designation as (i) special protection areas under the European Community directive on the Conservation of Wild Birds or (ii) Ramsar sites under the convention on Wetlands of International Importance.

The information for designated sites is set out in the table. Sites are designated by my right hon. and learned Friend on the recommendation of the Nature Conservancy Council. Those sites for which NCC has already made, or intends to make, a recommendation for designation are listed at table 3.1 of the Council's publication "Protecting Internationally Important Birds Sites", which is lodged in the Library.
