§ 20. Mr. ThurnhamTo ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what discussions he is having with chief constables about the efficient deployment of their police forces; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. Peter LloydChief officers, who have operational control over the deployment of their forces, and police authorities, which are statutorily responsible for providing an adequate and efficient force in their area, are well aware of the need to ensure that police resources are deployed to best effect. The search for greater value for money is a continuing theme in all our discussions with chief officers, and of the work of Her Majesty's inspectorate of constabulary and the Home Office.
