§ Mr. Austin MitchellTo ask the Secretary of State for Energy, further to his answer of 15 October,Official Report, column 681, concerning entertainment or gifts offered by oil companies, (1) whether he will publish the names of the oil companies that made the five gifts, the ranks and duties of the officials to whom the gifts were made, the nature of the gift and the reason for accepting it and whether the gifts were handed over to establishment division for disposal;
659W(2) whether he will publish in the Official Report a table, showing for each of the oil companies the number of invitations made and the number accepted in 1989, together with a breakdown into such categories of entertainment as are distinguished in the records maintained.
§ Mr. MoynihanAs the answer given on 15 October at column 681 made clear, there are specific rules laid down for the acceptance of gifts and entertainment by civil servants.
I am satisfied that these procedures have been followed.
